How to Install TWRP Orange Fox Redmi Note 5 Pro / Pie [Whyred]
Redmi Note 5 / Pro coded Whyred received a Pie-based Android ROM update that makes older TWRP versions no longer work installed in this ROM.
So in this article I will make a tutorial on how to install TWRP on Oreo and Pie ROMs on Redmi Note 5 / Pro.
TWRP that I am sharing here is Orange Fox TWRP.

Before Installing TWRP Read this... !

How To Install TWRP and ROOT Redmi Note 5 Pro [WhyRed]
Requirements:
- Make sure the battery is fully charged or at least 50%;
- computers/laptops with Windows 7 or newer operating system;
- Original or good quality USB cable;
- Unlocked Bootloader;
- Install 15 Seconds ADB Installer as driver and command prompt;
- Before installing TWRP, remove all PIN / lock screen / fingerprint and sign out Mi account.
Required materials :
dummy.img – 8 KB | Mediafire | (open the command prompt, put it in the C:\adb folder);
recovery.img - 38 MB | Mediafire | (TWRP official bridge with TWRP Orange Fox, put it in c:\adb folder);
TWRP Orange Fox (Flashable .zip) :
OrangeFox-R9.0-1-whyred.zip –42MB | Mediafire | (for Oreo ROMs);
OrangeFox-R9.0-2-whyred-MIUI-Pie.zip –42MB | Mediafire | (for Pie ROMs).
I will split this tutorial into two steps:
Step 1: Install TWRP as a bridge with Orange Fox;
Step 2: Install TWRP Orange Fox.
Step 1
Step 1 is only for Redmi Note 5 / Pro users who don't have TWRP at all. If you already have it, go to step 2.
Steps:
1. Connect Redmi Note 5 / Pro to PC/Laptop with USB cable;
Next, turn off the HP and press Power + Vol Down to go into Fastboot until the following screen appears:
3. Press SHIFT. Right-click an empty area and select Open command window here.
4. To make sure your Redmi Note 5 / Pro is connected, type:
- fastboot devices
If you see a random code, it means your Redmi Note 5 / Pro is connected correctly. If not, make sure you are in fastboot mode and check if the connection to PC/laptop is correct.
5. If it is ok, type the command:
- fastboot flash antirbpass dummy.img
.. the above command will unlock the fastboot because Redmi Note 5 / Pro already has anti-rollback- protection.
6. Then type the command
- fastboot boot recovery.img
.. the above command will boot TWRP Official without installing it (hotboot), this TWRP is a bridge to install TWRP Orange Fox files.
At this point, go to step 2.
Step 2
In TWRP mode, copy the file:
OrangeFox-R9.0-1-whyred.zip; or
OrangeFox-R9.0-2-whyred-MIUI-Pie.zip.
.. choose according to the ROM you are currently using.
Note!
In TWRP mode you can copy files to internal storage because TWRP already supports MTP (Media Transfer Protocol).
1. If so, select Install;
.. tap the OrangeFox file you copied earlier.
2. Then swipe right under Swipe to Confirm Flash;
.. wait a while for the installation to finish and automatically reboot into TWRP Orange Fox.
